Arianna pointed the gun still, though it was a struggle not to be scared. He was looking at her like was she about to become his next snack. She had to be strong. Her finger cocked the gun. “Then be warned you blood sucking bastard, these are silver bullets.”

His grin vanished. “Theo! Danaldi! Step back.” His gaze penetrated her. Her mind started to fuzz, but she fought it.

“Sorry vampy, I’ve had a real bad day, I’m not up for mind games. Back away from the parchment.”

“There are names on that list that have died.”

She was officially scared. His tone was pure venom. “I know that and I am about to put you on the not so immortal list.”

His dark brows shot up and his eyes sparkled then his mouth broke into a large smile. Her brain connected the puzzle and some missing piece slid into place. She was staring at the man whose reflection had been in the display window.

A sudden jar sent her gun sailing out of her hand and her arms and back pinned hard against the bedpost of the bed she had been on moments earlier.

“I love a challenge,” he whispered.

Her mind was mush, because under the circumstances, there was no way she should be attracted to the gorgeous man in front of her. He was going to kill her. What was it with the men in her life these days?
